The Nasarawa state chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Hon. Musa Saidu has been suspended for allegedly stepping down his senatorial ambition and backing that of Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of the APC.

This was contained in a statement issued by the spokesperson of APGA in the state, Comrade Lucky Danladi Betusan and made available to newsmen on Monday.

Governor Al-Makura and Hon. Saidu are both flying the flags of the APC and APGA respectively for the senate in the rescheduled presidential and national assembly elections.

The statement issued said: “The decision was reached during an emergency meeting of the state working committee and the chairmen of 13 local government areas, held at the state party secretariat in Lafia, on Sunday 17th February, 2019”.

“The decision became necessary over his involvement in anti party activities capable of undermining the successes  of the party in the forthcoming general elections”.

“Hon Saidu Musa, we gathered quietly withdrew his senatorial ambition in solidarity with the APC senatorial candidate in Nasarawa south, Governor Umaru Tanko Almakura, without consulting his party, APGA, for his personal gains”.

It added that s seven-man disciplinary committee headed by APGA state legal adviser, Barr A. A. Chahur, has been constituted to investigate the matter.

In the meantime, Hon Francis Yua, has been appointed as the state acting chairman of APGA, pending the outcome of the committee’s findings.

When contacted, Hon. Saidu said he was shocked that the state working committee had taken the decision to suspend him and issued a statement without notifying him.

He however did not deny the allegation of throwing his weight behind Governor Al-Makura, but faulted the steps taken by the party to address the matter even after he explained his predicament to the leader and governorship candidate of the party in the state, Mr. Labaran Maku.
