The People’s Democratic Party governorship candidate in Nasarawa State, Hon. David Emmanuel Ombugadu has faulted the endorsement of his kinsman, Mr. Labaran Maku by the Eggon cultural group as its candidate for tomorrow’s governorship election in Nasarawa state. Hon. Ombugadu who called on the people of the state to remain focused and resolute in their decisions and choices, said he would not succumb to any conspiracy by a handful politicians that in no ways reflects the aspiration of the Eggon people. Addressing newsmen at his campaign office in Lafia on Thursday, Ombugadu described the endorsement as a political coup which does not augur well for the Eggon nation. He emphasised that: “Maku is the reason why the Eggon nation has been in confusion since 1999 to date”. In a swift reaction, Mr. Maku, the former minister for Information said his choice by the Eggon cultural development association was informed by his popularity among the ele torates across the state. Maku who addressed the press in Lafia to officially round up his campaign said the decision to endorse him came after a far reaching assessment and consultation by the pan Eggon group in order to rally the support of Eggon people who desperately need to produce the next governor being the largest ethnic ethnic group in the state.
