Nasarawa State Government has begun restructuring of Area Offices of the State Ministry of Justice in the Western and Northern zones of the state for efficient and effective administering of Justice.

The Nasarawa State Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice, Dr. Abdulkarim Abubakar Kana stated this during a meeting with staff of state Ministry of Justice in Lafia.

The meeting was also to bid farewell to Ishaku Usman, former Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, who was recently appointed Judge of the state High Court by the National Judicial Service Commission.

The Attorney-General who reviewed the successes and challenges encountered in the year 2020, was emotional with the exit of Ishaku Usman and urged law officers of the state to be examplary if they must attain the peak of law profession.

Dr. Kana who explained that the restructuring takes effect from January, 2021, said “the essence was to fortify some of our formations in the area offices to make them stronger.

“The realignment is to ensure the focus and objectives of the Ministry is attained.”

He added, the restructuring was done in a way that would not upset the operational balance of the system, hence the need to change the narrative of Justice system.

Kana pledge to spur staff of the Ministry to redouble their efforts in administering Justice to the people in the coming year, assuring that, 2021 would be more better than 2020.

He urged law officers of the state to competitively aim for the best, such that would earn them good name in practice

According to him, they should take comparative advantage of the situation and cases before them to develop themselves if they must attain the position of a SAN or a judge.

“Unless you exhibit high sense of responsibility and take seriously the cases before you, you will go nowhere because, that is what defines you in the future.”

He stressed that, they should build enough credible profile for themselves while service of the state, as such would speak for them.

“And this can be done if you are patriotic and loyal to the present government and honest in their service

The Attorney general then thanked Governor Abdullahi Sule for implementing the harmonization law allowances for law officers in the state.

He was optimistic that, the implementation makes the beginning of the good things to come to the Ministry of Justice and the people of Nasarawa State.
