A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo, has donated 50 desktop computers, power generator and internet facilities to Nasarawa State University, Keffi. 
In appreciation of the kind gesture of the lawmaker, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Suleiman Bala Mohammed, over the week led a powerful delegation to thank him for the huge donations in Abuja. 
Prof. Suleiman said “it is a great contribution” that will go a long way in helping the University attain its vision of becoming a world class institution where teaching and research are driven by Information and Communication Technology (ICT). 
The Vice Chancellor said the computers and the other accessories have emboldened the resolve of management in its commitment to bequeathing a 21st Century centre of excellence. 
In his response, Hon. Onawo, who represents the good people of Awe/Doma/Obi Federal Constituency, said his passion for the development of the State University inspired the donation. 
He called for the re-introduction of 20% deduction from the Local Government funds to help in the development of the University, which was established during his time as the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly. 
While congratulating Prof. Suleiman on his appointment as the substantive Vice Chancellor, Hon. Onawo advised the University management to continually liase with members of the National Assembly to help them attract more projects to the University. 
Earlier, another member of the House of Representatives, Hon. David Emmanuel Ombugadu – who was present at the event, noted that the development of Nasarawa State is a responsibility of all the citizens, adding that members of the National Assembly from the state will continue to support the growth of the University. 
He made a commitment to, within the shortest possible time, ensure that the University Health Centre is accredited by the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to provide health insurance for university staff. He pledged to enroll at least 50 staff members free of charge for the next two years.
