Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state said he has secured 20 international scholarships to be given to the children of less privileged from across the 13 local government areas of the state.
Sule disclosed this yesterday while commissioning a youth and women empowerment programme at the Lafia Government House.
The governor disclosed that a private firm, Oriental Energy Resources, owned by a renowned philanthropist, Alhaji Muhammadu Indimi, gave the state government the scholarship to be issued to youths across the state.
While giving the criteria for accessing the scholarship, Engineer Sule directed the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education to not only ensure that beneficiaries come from every local government but that only children of the poor benefit from the scholarship.
“The way we are going to distribute the scholarship is that every LGA will have the opportunity so that will give it to youths that have excelled in their various endeavors.
” We will select people mostly from the families that have no hope of having international education,” the governor stated.Show quoted text
