Hardship: Sokoto Inaugurates Committee To Develop Economic Road Map

The Sokoto State government Sunday inaugurated a special Advisory Committee and task them to develop a robust economic road map for the state. 

Addressing the committee at the Government House, the State governor, Ahmed AAliyu decried that his government has been servicing debts inherited from the past administration, hence the need to bring experts on board to proffer workable solutions. 

The governor, who further cited lack of economic data and poor tax collection in the state as another reason for the economic advisory committee, also urged them to help set up machinery in motion for economic prosperity of the state. 

“”I urge you to exceed our expectations and offer the vital guidance needed to expedite the economic progress of this state.

“I also urge you to use your diverse experiences in finance, commerce and industry for the development of the state in line with my administration’s strategic agenda,” governor Aliyu appealed. 

Responding in a remarks, the chairman of the Economic Advisory Vouncil, Alhaji Bello Maccido, assured the governor and the state that, they would do everything possible to advise the government on how beAst to step into the path of solid economic prosperity.

“We will be advising on the sectors of focus and on innovative financial solutions that will help the state, broaden its sources of financing,” he reassured

The chairman who is also the Wakilin Sokoto further noted that he has confidence on his, t committee members, thus there would be no disappointment. 

 Umar Ajiya of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited is to serve as alternate chairman of the committee alongside other members like the immediate past Vice Chancellor of Usman Danfodiyo University, Professor Lawal Bilbis, Sen. Ibrahim Gobir, Abdulkar J Bello, Abdullahi Aminu Tafida, Sen. Ibrahim Danbaba, Prof Nasiru Yauri, Muhammad Kurfi, Abdulrahman Musa Bashir, Olaseni Oduwole, Alh Faruk A. maishanu and Commissioners of  finance , Budget, Innovation and Digital Economy,  Justice among others.

The Special Adviser to Sokoto State on Economy, Dr Bashir Achida would serve as  secretary of the economic advisory committee.
