Dr. Joseph Kigbu, a former federal lawmaker, has alleged that wining election in Nigeria is determined by  the establishment whom are powerful government agents backed by security agencies and the Judiciary. 
Kigbu who state this in Lafia on Sunday said unless the new electoral law comes into effect there was no hope of conducting free ans fair election capable of reflecting the wishes of the electorates.  
He alleged that the establishment has also also undermined the legislature and the judiciary making the administration of justice a mirrage. 
The former House of Representativesmember who represented Lafia/Obi federal constituency in Nasarawa state said: “The way and manner the establishment conducts its affairs is such that the collation officer is covered by the security, the Police, the soldiers and sometimes with heavy security.”
“This is where the problem lies. This brings us to the same issue of reformation of the electoral act. If we don’t, then forget it. So the media must cry, civil society must cry and the international organizations must tell Nigeria to ensure that we do this. If we don’t do it, forget it.”
He explained further that under the firm grip of the establishment, ‘the independence of the judiciary is a fairytale”. 
“The three arms of government complimenting themselves is also a fairytale. Rather it is a situation where we have a leader who decides for the executive, goes further to decide for the legislature and goes further decide for the judiciary”.
