A bill for a law prohibiting kidnapping in Nasarawa state has passed second reading at the Nasarawa state House of Assembly. 
The Speaker, Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, announced this on Wednesday after the sponsor of the bill, Mr Daniel Ogazi (APC-Kokona East) presented the the bill at the floor of the House in Lafia.
The speaker said that the bill is timely considering the negative effect of kidnapping to human and societal development.
He referred the bill to the House committee on Public Complaint and Petitions and House Committee on  Judiciary to work on the bill and to submit its report on December, 3rd.
Earlier, Ogazi while presenting the bill, said that he decided to sponsor the bill in order to address the problem of kidnapping in the state.
“The bill if passed into law will stipulate the penalties against kidnapping which will in turn fight the menace in the state in the interest of peace and development,” he said.
In a related development, a bill for a law for the establishment of Nasarawa State Environmental law and other purposes connected thereto also scaled second reading at the floor of the House.
