Some members of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) in Nasarawa State have renounced their membership of the party following the declaration of President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as winner of the just concluded presidential election.

The members, under the aegis of Nasarawa North Peoples Assembly, made the renounced their membership of the PDP through its national co-ordinator, Nathaniel Isa, at a press conference on Thursday in Akwanga, the headquarters of Akwanga Local Government Area of the state.

Consequently, the co-ordinator of the group Called on Nigerians, especially the people of Nasarawa State, to accept the outcome of the just concluded presidential election in good faith.

He said: “We hereby renounce our membership of the PDP and declare our membership and support to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and urge all our teeming supporters to vote for APC in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.”

“After wide consultations with leaders and critical stakeholders across the state, especially Akwanga Zone, we are convinced that majority of our people are in support of the APC governorship candidate, Abdullahi Sule, to pilot the affairs of our state considering his wealth of experience and the achievements of the APC led administration in Nasarawa State.”

He continued that the silent majority of Nasarawa State citizens knew that the best that has ever happened to the state was the APC led government, hence the stakeholders would not be anxious to substitute the APC with any other opposition party.

“We are family in Nasarawa state and don’t want any person to use religion or ethnicity to divide us. We want politics of genuine concrete issues that touch on the people’s lives and not religious sentiments,” he maintained.
