A total of four thousand, two hundred students have formally been initiated into the 2018/2019 academic season by the Authority of Nasarawa State College of Education (COE), Akwanaga.

 The Provost of the College, Dr. Rebecca Isaach Umaru who gave the figure at the matriculation ceremony of the students in Akwanga said, “out of so many who applied, and over seven thousand screened during the last post UTME screening exercise, only four thousand, two hundred were admitted, which are today (yesterday) been matriculated.”

 Dr. Umaru however warned the students Against vices that could destroyed them and their future, saying that the authority of the college would not condoned any act from any student capable of rubbishing the good image of the institution.

 She urged the students to study earnestly and conduct themselves in accordance with the rules and regulations of the institution in their interest and in the interest of the education sector.

 “Today you have become full-fledged students of the College of Education Akwanga.

 “By the virtue of the oath you have taken, you are bound by the College rules and regulations which must be kept if you must graduate from the College.

 “You must imbibe discipline and hard work, because the only alternative to success is the fear of God, discipline and hard work, “She said.

 Isaac Umaru also urged the newly matriculated students to shun cultism,drug abuse, examination malpractice among other social vices to enable them graduate successful and  to be good future leaders.

 “This College is known for zero tolerance for examination malpractice, therefore, you will stand expelled if caught from the act.

 “You should be informed that if your Commutative Grade Point Average(CGPA) falls below 2.0 for the first and second semesters in any session, you will probate.

 “The system does not allow a student to probate twice in a session, so this will  mean withdrawal. The maximum number of semesters a student can spend in the College for NCE is 12 semesters,”She added.

 The Provost advised the new students to reports any strange suspected face or persons to the security personel in their interest and for the overall security of  the school.

 The Provost restated her commitment to continue to initiate good policies and programmes that would direct bearing on the lives of the students and lecturers.  Some of the students who spoke during the matriculation, Rikichu Agu and Rasheda Abdullahi ceremony promised to abide by the school rules and regulations.
