Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom, has dismissed the claim that the son of a prominent person in Benue (name withheld) visited the state from Malaysia and was not isolated for two weeks as directed by the Federal Government Committee on Coronavirus otherwise known as COVID 19.

Ortom who made the clarification today against the backdrop that the young man was not screened or isolated because his father occupies important position in the government, said the claim was a blatant lie peddled by detractors on the social media.

He said the son of the prominent citizen has been in the United States studying and that he, the student, has not visited Benue in the past three years.

The governor said his administration has been updating the people on Coronavirus, adding that personal hygiene and the use of hand sanitizers and  other precautions have been translated into various languages and dialects for easy understanding by the people.

During an  interactive session with the people on the state radio earlier today, the governor said the people should take the Coronavirus Pandemic as a serious matter, urging them not to allow themselves to be deceived by the claim that cure for the disease has been found.
