Taraba state police command has again on Tuesday intercepted 27 travellers from Gombe while many of the travellers have been alleged escaped to various destinations in Jalingo.

Leader of the police patrol team, A.Sp Galinde Wabii who spoke to our currespondent said, the interception was a tip up from a good Nigerian who saw a truck loaded with strange  people believed not be citizens of Taraba state.

“I got a call  from the commissioner of police directing me to rush with my team to Roadblock area of Jalingo to intercep a truck loaded with strange people, amid the fear of Corona virus

“This people are from Gombe state and they said they are indigens of Taraba.

“They said they were coming back to their state, Taraba, now that Corona virus has entered Gombe

They are 27 in number and i am directed to take them to the NYSC camp isolation center”. The police patrol team leader explained.

Driver of the truck, Saidu Isa however told our currespondent that he left patusku yobe state on Monday and meet his passengers in Gombe to Taraba.

Saidu claimed the passengers were tested in Gombe before proceeding, and both results proved negative.

Residents of the area who were there at the time the travellers were being offloaded, alleged that many of them have entered the town service Keke Napep and left to their destinations while the truck driver denied the allegation.

Our currespondent reports that Taraba state had earlier last month, ban inter-state travel in fear of the deadly global pandemic while the intercepted travellers were immediately taking to the NYSC camp isolation center.
