Taraba State government has quarantined 134 travellers who came into the state from other states.

The Chairman of the State’s Technical Committee on Convid-19,
Dr Innocent Vakkai who disclosed this on Wednesday while inspecting facilities at the NYSC permanent Orientation camp in Jalingo which has been designated as a centre.

Vakkai, who is the Commissioner for Health in the state said that the committee deemed it necessary to visit and inspect the facility.
He said that the suspects that were undergoing quarantine process were intercepted by security operatives at different entry points into the state.

He also said that some of the suspects were traveling from Bauchi enroute Gombe, describing Bauchi as one of the affected states for coronavirus.

He said that some of the travellers were coming from Yobe, adding that they must undergo tests to ascertain their COVID-19 status.

The commissioner said that the state would do everything possible to prevent people who would carry the virus from other places into the state.

One of the drivers of the impounded vehicles, Mallam Abubakar Ahmad told juornalists that he is an indigene of Taraba.

Ahmad said that he loaded the passengers from Azare in Bauchi to Mutum Biyu.

He appealed to the state
government to allow them after undergoing test to go home and prepare for Ramadan fast.

He also complained of lack of adequate care on the part of the committee.

Three 14 seater buses with loads were intercepted by the security agencies while most of those quarantined were women.
