The Usmanu Danfidiyo University, Sokoto has appointed Professor Muhammed Mahuta as acting Vice Chancellor and Mallam Abubakar Saddiq Usman as Registrar.
Making this known in a statement signed by the institutions’ spokesperson, Ismail Mohammed Yauri, said the decision was reached at the 167th inaugural meeting of UDUS Governing Council held on 12th July, 2024. 
Giving details of their services to the institution, UDUS Public Relations Officer, Ismail Yauri, said, the newly appointed acting Vice Chancellor was until his appointment the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic to the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Prof Lawal Bilbis. 
The statement read in part, “”Professor Mahuta, an erudite scholar was born in 1964 and joined the services of UDUS as Lecturer 11 in the Faculty of Education in the year 1996 and rose to the rank of Professor of Sociology of Education. His appointment takes effect from 30th of July, 2024”.
Though, the PRO said the appointments of both the Vice Chancellor and that of the Registrar are temporary pending when substantial ones will be announced. 
Continuing, the PRO further quoted the outgoing Registrar, Nura Abubakar Belko as wishing those newly appointed Allah’s guidance and direction in their assigned responsibilities.
