The Plateau state coordinator of North -Central Renaissance Movement (NCRM), Hon. Solomon Nandy, has warned political appointees and politicians in Plateau state not to ‘disrespect’ or ‘undermine’ the State Assembly.
The coordinator said this in an exclusive interview with our reporter in Jos, Plateau State on Wednesday.
Reflecting on some recent events in the state political landscape, Nandy said that any disrespect to the office of the speaker and the state Assembly will not be accepted.
“political appointees and politicians  irrespective of political party or affiliation  should at all times conduct themselves in ways that will not undermine the State Assembly as an institution, its leadership and members,” Mr Nandy said.
Mr. Nandy’s warning is coming days after one Saleh Zagazaga, who claimed to be a representative of All Progressive Congress (APC) “bigwigs” on the Plateau, issued derogatory and unsubstantiated statements against the Speaker Hon. Ayuba Abok.
In one of the statements shared on some social media platforms, Zagazaza accused the speaker of “expanding ethno-religious divide in the state as a result of the recent crisis which led to several deaths and destruction of properties.”
He said the speaker should therefore tender a public apology to the people of the state as well as the government within one week, otherwise, the chieftains of the party will take stern action against him and the other party members politicizing the crisis.
Zagazaga went further to threaten the speaker by asking him to “retrace his steps” or else they expose him.
While reacting, Nandy urged Zagazaga and his gang of “faceless APC bigwigs” to note that Abok is not the number three citizen of APC but the entire Plateau as such the people of Plateau will not fold their arms and watch some nuisance, undermining his office.
“I don’t intend to react to statements by some political nuisance, faceless APC bigwigs but because of the office of the speaker and the reputation of the entire Assembly, I want to warn Zagazaga and his faceless group to conduct themselves in ways that will not undermine the  Assembly as an institution, its leadership, and members.” He said
“Zagazaga should note that the people of Plateau of today irrespective of political affiliation would not tolerate disrespect for its leaders from any quarter,” 
“It’s no longer acceptable for irresponsible politicians like Zagazaga to disrespect any Plateau leader and expect to go away with it,” he said. 
He advised Zagazaga to always secure “solid grounds on which to base his arguments lest he keeps embarrassing his paymaster in the market square.” 
Nandy urged Speaker Abok and the state Assembly not to be distracted from the task of fighting for the common interest of Plateau and the emancipation of the entire middle belt zone.
