Some communities in Jalingo Local Government Area, the capital of Taraba State have been flooded following a heavy rain, while many houses and farmlands were equally destroyed.
The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday has rendered hundreds of residents homeless as properties worth millions of naira were destroyed.
Eyewitness gathered that the flood swallowed over  20 houses, took over the entire communities, destroyed farm crops such as maizes, rice plants and many other farms products including hundreds of animals like goats, dogs, and chickens.
Some of the residents told our Correspondent that 5 vehicles were also submerged by water.
When Eyewitness visited the areas we observed that the entire communities were in distress as they struggle in tears to recover some of their belongings.
A resident of the community, Mr. Sunday Aliyu told our reporters that they woke up in the early hours of Saturday hearing people crying and screaming for help due to the disaster which occured as a result of the heavy downpour.
He said  “Apart from losing houses, crops and properties worth Millions of naira, food items stored in houses were also washed away by the flood.”
Mallam Abdullahi Mairogo, a resident of the affected area, whose house was destroyed by the flood, ap­pealed to the state govern­ment to look into the situation. Accord­ing to him, “if we allow this flood unchecked, it will sooner than later sack all the people from their homes, as most people do not have the financial muscle to keep rebuilding their houses in this current harsh economic con­ditions of Nigeria.”
One of the victims, David a farmer who said his maize and rice farms were destroyed by the flood, appealed to the state and Federal Government to come to their aid.
“As we speak, our farmlands have been washed away by flood and the entire communities have been wreaked down.”
He also called on the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), corporate organisations and good Samaritan’s to quickly intervene by assisting the victims with some relief materials to cushion their pains.
Some of the communities affected are Abuja phase 2, Mayo Gwoi and Nukkai
