The former secretary to the Nasarawa State government, Hajiya Zainab Abdullahi has advocated for the allocation of 50 percent affirmative action to women in all appointive political positions.

Similarly, she has also called for the allocation of same percentage in all elective positions in both the executive and legislative arms of governments across the country.

This according to her has become imperative in  view of the need to ensure equity, fairness, justice and competence in the polity to enable Nigerians reap the devidends of democracy in its true perspective.

Speaking with newsmen in Nasarawa during the recent by-election for the Nasarawa Central House of Assembly seat, Hajiya Abdullahi contended that since women were proven to be trustworthy, hardworking and competent in all the posts or positions entrusted in their care they should be properly and adequately taken along in the decision making process for the purpose of getting the desired results at the end.

“As you can see for yourself women are more trustworthy, hardworking and competent as such when you entrust them with a political position especially in offices that has to do with public wealth you never can see any abuse of office or incompetency in the discharge of their responsibilities as such they should be given the percentage I mentioned even for the sake of Justice and gender sensitivity” she said emphatically.
