A group under the auspices of North Central Renaissance Movement (NCRM), on Wednesday, said the Northcentral region of Nigeria is tired of leading political positions at the party level in the country.

So, they called on all political parties and stakeholders in the region to make provision for them to occupy the presidential seat of the nation.

The national chairman of NCRM Ngargbu K’tso stated this while on an advocacy visit to the Speaker of the Plateau state House of Assembly Abok Nuhu in his office in Jos.

He said that the movement is going round to rally support for the realization of a President from the region come 2023, adding that the movement is ready to join hands with other regions to move the nation forward by taking leadership responsibility at the highest level.

“We are tired of stewardship at the National chairmanship level of a political party, we want to lead this country at the highest level and we don’t want to miss it in 2023.”

Mr. K’tso said there is no better time than the current political dispensation to rally such support by proving that we too have the same aspirational liberties as any of our fellow citizens from any part of our Country.“

“It is on this premise that we, the North Central Renaissance Movement, NCRM, demand in the interest of fairness, equity, and justice that the Office of President of Nigeria is ceded to the North Central.”

“It is important to state that a nation being led by a region with hardworking and intellectual leaders like ours will develop speedily, considering the enormous sacrifices the region has made in keeping this country together, especially during the civil war.

According to him, the history of the civil war shows that Nigeria still together as a result of the sacrifices of the middle belt as such the region deserves to be allowed to lead the country democratically.

He also noted that that before the discovery of oil and gas the region was the financial nerves of the nation through the exploitation of Tin, Columbite, Tantalite, and other mineral resources from the region

Going down memory lane K’tso lamented that the North Central, despite having competent and qualified leaders has been marginalized in the last 63 years of Nigeria’s Independence, having not produced a democratic President or Vice President since then.

He then urged stakeholders from the region to wake up and ensure that the region secure the 2023 Presidential ticket for the zone, stressing that nothing short of the presidency would be acceptable.

“It is time to go round and wake the sleeping giant.” He noted.

While responding Mr. Abok, commended the group for such a laudable initiative, noting that there is no better time than now, to rally such aspiration, considering the present development in the nation’s political landscape.

He said with the enormous contributions and sacrifices the region has made in nation building the region don’t deserve the treatment it is getting in terms of appointments and distribution of national wealth from the current administration.

“The North Central is losing a lot in the pattern of appointment and distribution of national wealth”

He said any politician from the region that is against such a movement does not mean well for the zone.

Abok who is also the chairman of the region’s speakers forum promised to convey the message to his colleagues in ensuring that the project becomes a reality.

At the advocacy, visit were leaders of the group from the states across the region and they were received by the speaker and some members of the state assembly.

Similarly, the group also visited the immediate past governor of the state and former presidential aspirants under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Jonah Jang at his country home in Du.
