Nasarawa State Commissioner of Agriculture and Water Resources, Otaki Alanana has reiterated the commitment of the state government to support private initiatives towards Complimenting government efforts through extension services to boost agricultural production in rural communities of the state.

Alanana stated this at the 2019 Agricultural Show to mark the 50th anniversary of YMCA-Mada Hills in lafia.

Victoria Ayafa who stood in for the commissioner at the show said that, the role of private organizations to the agricultural development of the state cannot be overemphasized, hence government would provide enably environment for a robust agricultural activities to thrive in the state.

He disclosed that the Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are the falcrum of development agenda in every communities, and as such, NGOs are better placed to get to the grassroots and even do better even where government agencies cannot reached.

He urged the public especially youth to key into president Muhammadu Buhari Agricultural initiatives, which is aimed at diversifying the nation’s economy in Nigeria.

He hope that in the years ahead, no citizens of the state would lack foods for his himself and family.

He however call on others organizations to support the programs and visions of the YMCA in order to reduce unemployment and poverty in the state.

Earlier, the YMCA president, Obadiah Anji, explained that, the organizations doesn’t discriminate against gender, religion, and or against ethnic groups but collectively work together for the interest of all in the Society without sentiments

He added that the the essences of the organization was to bring the people out of poverty and to ensure that development reached communities
