…As Speaker congratulates workers

Workers in Nasarawa state celebrated the 2019 May Day with a call on government to ensure the prompt payment of the newly approved N30,000 minimum wage for workers in the state. 
In his speech at the occasion which took place at the Labour House in Lafia,  the state chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Yusuf Sarki Iya  pressed on the Union’s demands which include; implementation of N30,000 minimum wage, reinstatement of 22 Judiciary officers who were disengaged over union activities,  among other demands.
He applauded the government of Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura for its prompt payment of workers’ salaries and putting an end of percentage payment of local government workers.
Meanwhile, the Speaker of the Nasarawa state House of Assembly,  Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi,  has described the day as significant in the quest by labour unions to seek better welfare packages for their members.
