Nasarawa varsity to commence staff recruitment for College of Medicine soon

The Senate of the Nasarawa State University, Keffi under the leadership of Professor Adamu Baike has finally approved the establishment of the college of Medicine at the main campus of the university in keffi.
The Vice Chancellor of the university Professor Sulieman Bala Mohammad who made this known in his speech during the inauguration ceremony of a committee to oversee the establishment of the said college, recently in the university’s Senate chamber said all the organs of the university have agreed on the establishment of the college.
According to him, the contract for the permanent structure of the college has already been awarded and compensation has been paid to the owners of the site adding that the takeoff temporary site will be at the former building of the Faculty of Environmental science.
“The University’s decision to recruit staff for the college and other facilities has been approved by the government. The University is now ready to advertise and recruit new staff into the four new departments, which are Anatomy, Physiology, Medical Biochemistry and Community Medicine” the Vice Chancellor stated.
He further stated, that the university will dedicate the TETFUND allocation for this year to enable them get all the equipment that the university want in the said regards adding that the university will also purchase some of the needed equipment from her internally generated fund.
Professor Mohammad also said that the university has received tremendous pledges from organizations and institutions saying that the university has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the university of Freiburg, Germany and also received support from Federal Medical Center, Keffi, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and others as regards the establishment of the college.
He said:” The state government under the leadership of the governor, Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule has been unwavering in support to make the great. Recently,he reiterated his determination to see that the college of Medicine commences”.
He congratulated the inaugurated committee headed by the Medical Director of Federal Medical Center, Keffi, Dr. Adamu Yahaya saying that their names will be written in black and white when the history of the college is to be written.
