Nasarawa State Governor Engineer Abdullahi Sule has enjoined members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in the state to always endeavour to seek supporting facts to their stories before publication and to give his administration credit where it deserves it in course of their reportage.

The Governor gave the admonition when he grant audience to members of the NUJ Correspondent Chapel Nasarawa State branch who paid him a solidarity courtesy visit at the government house conference Hall in Lafia the state capital recently.

He pointed out that his administration has done a lot in the past three years of his stewardship which regrettably is being undermined and some times under-reported by some Journalists; alluding that he has done nothing new rather than complete projects initiated by his predicessors.

” What I am saying is, give us our own credit where it counts. I had options to not complete the projects we had completed, endeavour to followup supporting facts to your stories ” Sule asserted.

The Governor lamented trends of ascribing credit to other people over developmental projects initiated by his administration being championed by a section of Journalists who lack basic developmental facts of his administration exploits so far.

Engineer Sule assured them of is willingness to furnish them with facts especially on the growing tendency that all the investments brought into the state is taking too long to manifest the promised benefits to the people of the state.

On security initiatives and consciousness, the governor explained that his administration is serious and responsive enough to spontaneously follow-up every emerging threat in all parts of the state without being prompted by a media report before taking action.

He admonished Journalists to support him in that direction but that they must first understand him, understand what he is doing and above all, understand how investment initiatives works.

Engineer Sule took time to explain why investments take time to manifest it’s benefits to the investors and the people being promised employment opportunities and developmental projects using the oil and gas sector implementation processes in Keana as well Dangote sugar plantation in Tunga.

He explained that, such investment take number of years to fast track and for people to begin to see reasonable out put as it entails trial farming of several hectares of cane to see how much yield could be generated in particular areas before thinking of establishing a cane processing factory.

The same process is applicable to oil and gas sector – where the company would have to fast track the sessmic acquisition by hunting for the displacement of the oil before sinking the wells he noted.

He urge Journalists to help him in the enlightenment of the people on how investment initiatives works instead of joining those who are ignorant of how things work to undermine his administration’s efforts in providing the foundation for long time investment opportunities for the people.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Correspondent Chapel – Isaac Ukpoju said they were in government house to congratulate the governor over his renomination as APC flag bearer for the governor position come 2023 and to assure him of their support through credible reportage on his activities in their various medium.

He pointed out that his renomination to contest the 2023 governorship election did not come to them as a surprise given his numerous achievements recorded in the past 3 years of his stewardship.

Okpoju appreciated the Governor for the wise counsel he gave the chapel that was hitherto challenged will sectarian leadership problems when they first had a media parley. The Chapel Chairman was happy to inform the governor that – today, they are a united family due to the resolution of their differences as advised by the governor.

The Chapel Chairman equally commended the governor for the appointment of Ibrahim Addra as his Chief Press Secretary and the monthly support they have being receiving from the governor.

He requested for a turn around repair work on their old bus so as to actively take part in the governor’s campaign train – a request graciously accepted as the governor promised them a new bus in due course.
