Wife of the Garrison Commander, 8 Division, Nigeria Army, Giginya Barracks, Sokoto, Mrs Anne Umoh Tawasimi has been commended for remodelling the Division’s vocational center.
Mrs Anne Tawasimi who is the Zonal Coordinator of Nigeria Army Officers Wife’s Association (NAOWA) had divulged that the center represents more than just a physical structure, added that, skill acquisition of whatever gives hope, opportunity and a brighter future for the children.
Giving specific details of the remodeled center, Mrs Tawasimi said the structure consist of the headteacher’s office, classes, four toilets and a staff room, which are well-furnished to provide conducive atmosphere for learning.
Continuing, Mrs Tawasimi said no fewer than over 115 women have so far graduated from the center in different skills of their choices.
Speaking before inaugurating the center, wife of the 8 Division General Officer Commanding (GOC) Mrs Ndidi Ajose, who is also the Chairperson of 8 Division NAOWA commended Mrs Anne Tawasimi for the gesture, adding, it was a step in the right direction towards promoting the Federal Government drive for self reliance through skills acquisition initiative.
Continuing, the GOC’s wife said the initiative enjoys students at all levels to combine education with skills to enable them become productive and self employed upon graduation without necessarily waiting for any white collar job.
Speaking on what she saw at the remodelled 8 Division Skills Acquisition center, the GOC’s wife, Mrs Ajose said she was not only satisfied with the modern equipment but also with the specialized instructors, training people on tailoring, catering, handcraft, beauty makeup, computer literacy and lots more.
She therefore submitted that, the Division is not only providing a conducive learning environment for the children, but also empowering them with the knowledge, skills and values necessary to succeed in life.
To this note, Mrs Ajose added that,
“”NAOWA is committed to academic excellence, foster a culture of innovation and creativity as well as cultivate a sense of community and social responsibility in the formation””.
Registering her appreciation on behalf of others, one of the graduating students, Miss Peace Godwin, thanked NAOWA for the opportunity, adding, it has empowered them to contribute their own quota to the society.
