Barrister Muhammad Abdullahi has met with various youth groups in Nasarawa State to discuss challenges facing young people in the region. The interactive session, held at the private residence of the former Minister of Environment in Keffi, brought together leaders from different ethnic groups and associations.
Speaking shortly after the meeting on Tuesday, Abdullahi emphasized the importance of engaging with youths to understand their struggles and aspirations.
“It is important to hold meetings like this to hear firsthand information from the youths about their challenges and what should be done to address them,” he said. “You know, the challenges of a Migili youth are different from those of an Alago youth, and those of an Eggon youth are different from those of an Afo youth. That is why I needed to listen to them so I can incorporate their concerns into my manifesto going forward.”
During the meeting, Abdullahi unveiled his plan to establish a railway system that would connect Lafia to Abuja, making commuting easier for residents.
“I will establish a rail that will take passengers from Lafia to Abuja and back to Lafia,” he announced. “This means someone can live in Lafia, work in Abuja, and return home comfortably.”
When asked how he planned to achieve the ambitious project, Abdullahi stressed that political will and determination were key factors.
“It is the political will that makes things work. When you have the political will and determination, it is workable,” he asserted.
On his political affiliation, Abdullahi gave a rather unconventional response when asked if he was still a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), given his readiness to contest for the state’s top seat.
“I am a party of the citizens of Nasarawa State,” he stated. “I belong to the party of the people of Nasarawa State. Any party that identifies with me, I will identify with them.”
The meeting attracted a diverse representation of youth leaders from various ethnic backgrounds, signaling Abdullahi’s interest in fostering inclusivity and grassroots engagement as he gears up for his political journey.
