Buhari Turbaned  Daurama Karama In Katsina State

Dr Samira Salisu Buhari has been turbaned with the traditional title of Daurama Karama in Daura, Katsina state. 

The benevolent humanitarian ambassador, Dr Samira who is the founder of Daurama Foundation, was given the honour not just as a mark of her cultural integrity but also in appreciation of her remarkable contributions to humanity and community development.

Speaking before the turbaning, the Emir of Daura, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Umar Faruk Umar, said the event was very historic as not only a recognition of excellent leadership qualities, selfless services to humanity, but also preservation of their rich cultural heritage. 

“The turbaning of Dr. Samira as Daurama Karama reflects the rich heritage of Daura and the

profound respect we have for leaders who embody service, integrity, and dedication. Her efforts

in championing healthcare, education, and women’s empowerment are exemplary, and her

leadership is a beacon of hope for future generations.” The royal father stressed. 

Continuing, the respected Emir of Daura, Umar Faruk  

said the title of Daurama Karama symbolizes grace, resilience, and a deep commitment to

community service.

“”By receiving this honour, Dr. Buhari joins a lineage of esteemed leaders who have left indelible marks on their communities through visionary leadership and transformative

action””. Umar Faruk enthused. 

The well attended historic event marks a turning point for the Salisu Buhari family as Dr. Samira  Buhari was turbaned alongside her brothers, Alhaji Ibrahim Salisu Buhari and Dr.

Gazzali Salisu Buhari.

While Alhaji Ibrahim Salisu Buhari was honoured with the   title of Iyan Daura,  Dr. Gazzali Salisu Buhari was turbaned as the Makaman Kasar Hausa. 

Reacting to the honour done to them, 

Alhaji Ibrahim Salisu Buhari expressed his gratitude, saying,

“receiving the title of Iyan Daura is both humbling and motivating. It’s a reminder of the trust

placed in us to contribute meaningfully to our community. We are committed to working

together to support and uplift Daura and its people.”.

Adding his voice, Dr. Gazzali Salisu Buhari said, “being named Makaman Kasar Hausa is a significant responsibility for him and a call to honour the rich

cultural heritage of our people while also embracing the challenges of modern leadership. We look forward to

fostering growth and unity within our community.”

Reflecting on the significance of the title

Dr. Samira Buhari, said,

“This title is a profound recognition of our shared heritage and responsibilities. I am deeply

moved and inspired to continue my work in advancing gender equality, healthcare, and

community development. This moment encourages us all to stay rooted in our values while

driving progress for the future.”

One of the dignitaries at the event in his opinion, said,

the turbaning ceremony transcended personal recognition to symbolize the harmonious blend

of cultural heritage and progressive leadership. 

“‘The recognition of Dr Samira Buhari showcased the vital role of women leaders in

bridging tradition with modernity, thus setting a precedent for future generations””.
